Alamo Switzerland Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

Payment
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard (transaction fee of 1.75% applies).

The balance will be secured directly by the supplier on arrival.

Additional Driver Policy
Additional driver CHF 12.50 + tax per driver, per day – same minimum age policy as for renters. A maximum of 3 additional drivers is permitted.

Age Requirements
Minimum rental age 25 years for car groups  FA – FDAR, GR – PDAR, HR – LDAR, J4 – FFMR, S – FVMR, SA - FVAR.
Young Drivers between 21 and 24 years of age can only rent the following vehicles: A = MBMN, B = EDMR, C = CDMR,
D = IDMR, E = SDMR, CA = CDAR, DA = IDAR, EA = SDAR, CE = CWMR, DE = IVMR and EE = SWMR.
Young Drivers surcharge - CHF 19.50 + tax per day. There is no maximum age policy.

Condition of Vehicle
Vehicle must be returned, normal wear & tear expected, in the same condition as when rented. If special cleaning is required a separate charge will be made directly to the customer

Cross Border Policy
Vehicles are NOT permitted to be driven into: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Serbia and Montenegro, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Macedonia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Turkey & Ukraine.

Licence Requirements
Drivers must be in possession of a valid drivers licence held for at least 1 year. An International Drivers licence is required if the license is not in Roman alphabet.

One Way Rentals
Domestic & International one-way rentals are available from Geneva and Zurich to all European locations that are part of the IOWP (International One -way Programme). Domestic one-ways are free of charge and do not have to be pre-booked.
All vehicles can be used for domestic one-ways.

Out of Hours Policy
All out of hours reservations are on a request basis only at a charge of CHF 30.00 for pick up between 23:30 – 24:00 and CHF 60.00 for pick up after 24:00.

Payment Policy
All major Credit cards - Visa, Diners, MasterCard, Amex. Cash rentals are allowed - but only on request - for groups: MBMN, EDMR, CDMR, CDAR, CWMR, IDMR, IDAR, IVMR, SDMR, SDAR & SWMR only, Minimum deposit is CHF 900.00.
Also acceptable are National charge cards, National vouchers. Travellers Cheques and Eurocheques are NOT accepted.
Two credit cards are required for the vehicle groups PDAR and LDAR. A deposit of CHF 10,000.00 is held on the credit card when either of these two vehicle groups is rented.

Refuelling Policy
The Car is supplied with a full tank, return with a full tank, or refuelling charges will apply. Pre-paid fuel option is also available

Roadside Assistance
BREAKDOWNS: Phone numbers will be supplied on the rental agreement at the time of check out. A replacement vehicle will be supplied if necessary.
ACCIDENTS: 1) Customers must call the police. 2) Fill in the blue European Accident report. 3) Call the nearest National/Alamo rental location. A replacement vehicle will be supplied if necessary.

Special Equipment
Child/Infant seat - CSI (suitable for 0-1 year olds / 0-13kgs) = CHF 60.00 per rental plus tax - deposit CHF 150.00 (Cash rentals: CHF 300.00) - On Request.
Toddler seat – CST (suitable for 1-7 year olds / 9-18kgs) = CHF 60.00 per rental plus - deposit CHF 150.00 (Cash rentals CHF 300.00) - On Request.
Ski rack - SKV = CHF 55.00 per rental plus tax - no deposit required - On Request.  Available for all groups except MBMN. Available between 1st November and 15th April only.
Snow Chains – SNO = CHF 2.50 per day plus tax – on freesale. 
Winter Equipped Vehicle - (see Winter fee in Surcharges) MANDATORY from 1st November to 15th April (includes winter tyres, snow chains, ice scrapper)
GPS is also available and costs as follows: 1 day = CHF 35.00 + tax, 2 days = CHF 55.00 + tax, 3 days = CHF 70.00 + tax, 4 days = CHF 80.00 + tax and for 5+ days there is an additional CHF 10.00 + tax per day (e.g. 5 days = CHF 90.00 + tax, 6 days = CHF 100.00 + tax etc). GPS is not available to be pre-booked, as there is only a limited supply available.  If required, please add to the remarks on the reservation but it is not guaranteed to be available at time of checkout.
When renting child seats, the age of the child/children must be provided at time of reservation.
All special equipment except Winter Equipped Vehicle requires 24 hours advance notice.
All special equipment is available for one ways.
Mobile telephones are not available.
This country is not required by law to provide reflective jackets, but they can be purchased locally for CHF 10.

Surcharges
Airport surcharge is 20% plus tax on all charges except fuel.
Vehicle Licence fee/road tax is CHF 4.75 per day plus tax.
Winter fee = (WIEV) CHF 9.00 per day plus tax - MANDATORY for all rentals from November 1st until April 15th (see Winter Equipped Vehicle in Special Equipment).
Busing Cost – CHF 7.50 per rental plus tax, applicable at Geneva Airport only.

Liability

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
